Mana reservation is an alternative method of using mana to pay for skills which is usually found on skills with an ongoing effect, such as auras. Rather than paying the mana cost once as with normal skills, a portion of mana is set aside as unusable for as long as the skill is active. Having mana reserved does not reduce the rate of mana regeneration, so it will reduce the time taken for mana to regenerate to its (temporary) maximum.

Reserved mana values are multiplied by support gem mana cost multipliers as usual. The amount reserved will not be reduced by passives which grant "reduced skill cost", but will be reduced by passives which grant "less Mana Reserved". Module Error: No skills found with q_where = skill.active_skill_name="Reduced Mana" will reduce the mana reserved, but the quality bonus of that gem will not. The Blood Magic passive will cause life to be reserved instead of mana.


Skills which reserve mana

Mana can be reserved in two ways:

  • By a fixed amount, which grows as the gem levels
  • By a percentage of maximum mana, which does not change with gem level

Mortal Conviction was a keystone passive skill that allows you to reserve mana for one non-Banner aura skill for free, but prevents you from having more than one aura active.

After the removal of Mortal Conviction, all of these items grant Blood Magic instead. So that the latter 4 unique have double Blood Magic mods which the extra mod have no extra effect.
