Mighty warriors of the distant tundras of the Freezing North travelled across the seas and oceans and some of them landed also on Wraeclast. Their settlers have quickly dissoluted in the Wraeclastian population, their bloodline dispersed and their language was forgotten, but some bits of their culture remained. The useful bits. One of these bits is a combat technique known as Ice Crash. The warrior activates the bits of northern bloodline that remains in his veins and hits the ground with all his strength, causing ice to erupt from the ground and grievously injure those who stand close enough.

Description on the official Path of Exile website [1]

Ice Crash attacks an area, converting some of your physical damage to cold damage. The damage is weaker further away from you. Ice Crash requires a sword, mace, axe or a staff, but can also be used while unarmed.

Skill functions and interactions

  • Damage conversion: Like all converted damage, the cold damage component of Ice Crash's damage will be modified by Cold Damage, Elemental Damage and Physical Damage.
  • Multistrike: Ice Crash cannot be supported by Multistrike.

Any enemy hit by a stage cannot be hit again by subsequent stage(s). The tooltip damage reported is for the first (central) stage.[2]
