Vaal Fireball is a Vaalspell that launches fireballs in all directions around the character. The fireballs will launch rapidly one at a time rotating clockwise around the player, continuing until all 32 fireballs have been launched.
Area of Effect: The radius of the explosion caused by collision (with either an enemy or a terrain obstruction) is affected by all AoE increases. Full spell damage is done to any enemy in range of the explosion.
Piercing: A fireball that pierces an enemy and hits another enemy will only cause the AoE damage effect on the last enemy struck. Any enemies hit by a projectile which successfully pierces or chains will take full spell damage but the projectile won't explode.
Fork: Fork creates new projectiles on impact, and fireball explodes on impact, regardless of whether it is a first-generation projectile or a forked, second-generation projectile. Thus, the initial fireball projectile causes an explosion on impact, this impact spawns forked projectiles; the forked projectiles will also explode when making impact with a valid target.

Positioning: Phasing allows characters to move through monsters. Standing in the exact center of a very large monster while casting vaal fireball will cause most or all fireballs to hit 1 single target. Small rooms will also cause most or all hits against walls to overlap area of effect damage onto 1 target.

Now has a Soul Gain Prevention duration of 4 seconds (previously 5).
Vaal Skill Gems can now only be obtained from a set of specific methods such as Corrupting Gems, Vaal Side Areas, Divination Cards (that specifically grant Vaal Skill Gems) and the Lapidary Lens in the Temple of Atzoatl.
If you use a skill that causes a projectile spiral (like Vaal Fireball) from inside an enemy, then only the first projectile can collide with the enemy now.
Vaal Skill soul counts were initially balanced for Merciless difficulty, where there are more monsters. We want them to be easier to use in Normal and Cruel difficulty. We have halved the number of souls required for each skill. In Cruel difficulty, skills require 50% more souls to uses. In Merciless difficulty, they require 100% more (which is the same as before the patch).
