Atlas passive skills come from skill trees specific to the Atlas of Worlds, introduced in the Echoes of the Atlas expansion. Progressing The Maven's questline allows the player to unlock these powerful passive skills that enhance the rewards and fights of maps within the Atlas of Worlds.
The Atlas Passive Skill Tree is a passive skill tree specific to the Atlas of Worlds, introduced in the Echoes of the Atlas and reworked in Siege of the Atlas expansion.
Progressing through maps allows the player to obtain passive skill points to allocate in the Atlas tree to enhance the rewards and fights of maps within the Atlas of Worlds.

There is an Atlas Quick Guide that covers all the steps to unlock the complete The Maven's Challenge and unlock the Atlas passive skill trees.
The atlas tree has over 600 skill nodes to specialise in. Every map as well as various Atlas quests you complete will earn you an Atlas skill point.

Atlas regions
Obtaining passive skill points
Each region of the Atlas has its own passive skill tree. Each region also has five distinct invitations from The Maven associated with it. Accepting and completing each of these invitations for the first time will earn two skill points for use in that region's passive skill tree, up to a maximum of ten points for each region.

Skills in a region's passive skill tree only have effects on maps in that region of the Atlas.
<!-- It's currently possible to obtain up to 128 points:
* 117 from completing the Atlas of Worlds maps completion bonus.
* 5 from the Maven's first five invitations.
* 4 from defeating the Eldritch Horrors:
** The Eater of Worlds
** The Searing Exarch
** Infinite Hunger
** Black Star
-->
You can earn an atlas passive tree point for each map in the Atlas by obtaining the map completion bonus.

The Uncharted Realms
You gain map completion bonus for the first time under certain conditions:
The Uncharted Realms is a passive skill tree that affects the entire Atlas, not just a particular region. It does not appear in the user interface until the player earns skill points that apply there.
* For a white map (a map with tier 1 through 5), you must complete a map with magic rarity.
* For a yellow map (a map with tier 6 through 10), you must complete a map with rare rarity.
* For a red map (a map with tier 11 through 15), you must complete a map with rare rarity and have corrupted modifier.

Six difficult Maven challenges are not tied to a particular region. Completing any of these invitations for the first time will award two skill points for The Uncharted Realms, for a maximum of twelve skill points.
Skills in the Atlas tree affect all maps in the Atlas. This does not include maps opened through Kirac's missions.
* The Maven's Writ - Defeat The Maven.
* Maven's Invitation: The Formed - Defeat the Shaper Guardians: Lair of the Hydra Map, Maze of the Minotaur Map, Forge of the Phoenix Map, Pit of the Chimera Map.
* Maven's Invitation: The Twisted - Defeat the Elder Guardians: The Purifier, The Constrictor, The Enslaver, The Eradicator
* Maven's Invitation: The Hidden - Defeat the Breachlords: Uul-Netol's Domain, Xoph's Domain, Tul's Domain, Esh's Domain
* Maven's Invitation: The Forgotten - Defeat these map bosses: Rewritten Distant Memory, Augmented Distant Memory, Altered Distant Memory, Twisted Distant Memory
* Maven's Invitation: The Feared - Defeat these map bosses: Cortex, Chayula, The Alluring Abyss, Shaper in The Shaper's Realm, "Red" Elder in Absence of Value and Meaning

As with the character's normal passive skill tree, the player must spend refund points in order to remove previously-assigned passive skills. Earning refund points requires the use of an Orb of Unmaking, an item that can drop during The Maven's challenges. Once earned, these refund points can be used in any of the five Atlas passive skill trees. Refund points for the Atlas passive skill trees cannot be used to remove passive skills from the character's passive skill tree, and vice-versa.

The full Atlas Tree without any node allocated

The Atlas Passive Skill Tree is a passive skill tree specific to the Atlas of Worlds, introduced in the Echoes of the Atlas and reworked in Siege of the Atlas expansion.

Progressing through maps allows the player to obtain passive skill points to allocate in the Atlas tree to enhance the rewards and fights of maps within the Atlas of Worlds.

The atlas tree has over 600 skill nodes to specialise in. Every map as well as various Atlas quests you complete will earn you an Atlas skill point.

Mechanics

Obtaining passive skill points

You can earn an atlas passive tree point for each map in the Atlas by obtaining the map completion bonus.

You gain map completion bonus for the first time under certain conditions:

 • For a white map (a map with tier 1 through 5), you must complete a map with magic rarity.
 • For a yellow map (a map with tier 6 through 10), you must complete a map with rare rarity.
 • For a red map (a map with tier 11 through 15), you must complete a map with rare rarity and have corrupted modifier.

Skills in the Atlas tree affect all maps in the Atlas. This does not include maps opened through Kirac's missions.

Spending and refunding passive skill points

Immediately after receiving Atlas passive skill points, the player has the opportunity to spend those points in the skill tree. If the player leaves the points unassigned, they can be spent later from the Atlas of Worlds screen.

As with the character's normal passive skill tree, the player must spend refund points to remove previously-assigned passive skills. Earning refund points requires the use of an Orb of UnmakingOrb of UnmakingStack Size: 40Grants an atlas passive skill refund pointRight click on this item to use it., an item buyable from Kirac for 2 Orb of RegretOrb of RegretStack Size: 40Grants a passive skill refund pointRight click on this item to use it. each or randomly dropped during maps.

Once earned, these refund points can be used in any of the allocated atlas passive nodes. Refund points for the Atlas tree cannot be used to remove passive skills from the character's passive skill tree, and vice-versa.
