Zana, Master Cartographer is one of the eight forsaken masters. Being the final master, her missions and crafting options revolve around end-game maps. She also allows the player to open maps at a personal map device in a hideout.
Zana is an important NPC in the end-game and plays a major role in the exploration of the Atlas of Worlds and the war between the Shaper and the Elder.

Signature Mod
Zana's signature prefix mod, This Map's Modifiers to Quantity of Items found also apply to Rarity, applies not only to quantity from affixes on the map item and quantity from quality, but also to quantity gained from modifiers to the map itself such as prophecies that spawn tempests, Zana's Map Device quantity bonus, and some sextant mods.
Missions
Zana will appear in the Epilogue after Act 10. She give you a quest to complete a map, as well as a Zana-modded map to start off with. After completing your first map, she will show you the Atlas of Worlds and your Reputation level with Zana increases to 2 if this was your first time meeting her (within the league).
Zana can only be encountered in the wild in maps.
For a player to join in on a daily mission they must be able to enter maps (ie. complete act 10)
When a Zana mission begins, she opens six portals to a map where the mission takes place. Leaving a normal Zana mission map, whether via portal or resurrecting at checkpoint after dying, only exits the "inner" map. In the wild, you may reenter a Zana map even after completing or failing the mission so long as portals remain. If you are on Zana's daily mission, if you fail the mission or complete it by speaking to Zana the map cannot be reentered.
If a mission that guarantees a drop is failed, the guaranteed drop (map or unique item) is removed.[1]
Objectives
Possible mission objectives include the following:
- Complete another master's quest.
- Kill the Corrupted Boss(es).
- Kill all of the corrupted monsters. A counter is shown after the first one is killed.
- Kill all of the Rogue Exiles. The map will contain two to four additional Rogue Exiles. This is in addition to a possible Anarchic prefix which produces two more additional Rogue Exiles and up to one additional random Rogue Exile, for a theoretical maximum of seven Rogue Exiles at the time the map is created.
- Find the Map. Map drops from an enemy and is not marked on the map. Mission is completed when the map drops. There is a higher chance this map drop is magic or rare.
- Find the Unique item. Unique item drops from an enemy and is not marked on the map. Mission is completed when the item drops. You may keep the item.
- Find the lodestones (10 needed). A few extra are provided.
Strongboxes may spawn additional corrupted monsters or Rogue Exiles. These are counted as part of the corresponding objective. However, if you have already completed the mission these spawns will not uncomplete the mission.
Missions may include an additional complication:
- Only a single portal per player instead of a total of six.
- Time limit (300 seconds).
- Time limit (40 seconds), killing monsters extends the time limit by 1s each.
- Time limit (100 seconds), touching standing stones extends the time limit by 25s each.
Maps
The maps offered by Zana come from the list: Acid Lakes Map, Ashen Wood, Canyon, Cells, Courtyard, Crematorium, Desert, Dry Peninsula, Dunes, Dungeon, Gorge, Jungle Valley, Mountain Ledge, Museum, Necropolis, Palace, Pier, Plateau, Precinct, Promenade, Shipyard, Shore, Strand, Temple, Terrace, Torture Chamber, Tropical Island and Waste Pool. She can also offer some of the unique maps (currently Acton's Nightmare, Caer Blaidd, Wolfpack's Den, The Coward's Trial, Death and Taxes, Maelström of Chaos, Olmec's Sanctum, Poorjoy's Asylum and Untainted Paradise, a special map that can only appear via Zana missions).
Unique maps are always their standard level. For non-unique maps, the map level is randomly between -1 and +1 of the current area level of Crumbled Laboratory she opens for the mission (e.g. Zana level 8 opens a level 76 Crumbled Laboratory that opens maps on level 75-77). This replaces the map's regular level.

Crafting
Zana's "crafting bench" is a map device similar to the one in the Templar Laboratory. However, it offers the ability to add an extra effect to the map at time of activation (that is, it does not craft a mod onto the item, but is rather used at the time the map is run).[3]
Crafting an effect also gives the player a chance of finding league-specific unique items in the map. For instance, adding the Onslaught mod to a map adds the exclusive uniques from the Onslaught league to the drop pool of that map. While in the map, those uniques can also be chanced from an appropriate base item. The base item itself does not need to originate from the map in question.[4] There is a total of seven challenge leagues available from Zana, one at each level from level two onwards. The composition, order and price of these challenge leagues changes every three months when a new challenge league starts. Some leagues can be disabled for three months, others for longer[5]. This also means that some league-specific items cannot be obtained during a league.
Crafting on corrupted Maps costs an additional

per unit of currency in the regular cost (e.g. Ambush costs 4 additional Vaal Orbs, Onslaught costs 2 additional Vaal Orbs).

Dialogue
Zana is currently voiced by New Zealand actress, Katherine Kennard (who also voices Tani, in the Etchings). Formerly, Zana was voiced by Mia Blake.
Experience
Something I've noticed since I've started journeying through these maps, is that the more I know about the interconnected nature of these places, the more I seem to get out of each visit. Knowledge is the key that unlocks understanding, and experience unlocks knowledge.
Shaping
My father once told me that there is no greater evil than ignorance. The fact that we're stuck here, thanks to fanatics that deliberately burn and suppress knowledge, tells me he is probably right.
But we are both guilty of this crime. Ignorance of what is happening beyond Wraeclast. Ignorance of the foul hand that shapes the lands that lie through my map device, populating them with twisted monstrosities and maddening visions.
It's a mystery that begs unraveling. I fear that to pull back the veil is to slip into the same madness as its source. But the alternative - that we let the shaping continue, that it grows and swells and spills out into this world - is far scarier.
Exile
My mother died not long after I was born, and my father, too, was gone only a handful of years later. Orphaned, my family's assets were seized and I was handed off to a series of well-off foster homes as an indentured servant.
But children are curious creatures, and even by those standards I was extremely curious indeed. I grew up reading everything I could get my hands on, and questioning everything they tried to teach me. I was too smart for my own good, I suppose, because eventually, I started drawing the attention of the Templar.
Luckily for me, Dominus was much less subtle than the previous High Templars, so I managed to leave Oriath on my own terms, mostly, before my impending exile.
Maps
These maps are not simple drawings or representations. They're more like... coordinates. Coordinates that could point to any location, or any moment in time, or any memory or dream or idea. And the map device takes you to it. Makes it real.
Creating a map is like channelling a voice who speaks in a language you don't understand, who tells you to go to a place you've never been. It's where art, superstition and science collide at high speed through thaumaturgy.
Corruption
My father's writings frequently references the work of other researchers. In particular, the heretical belief that the environment can influence a creature's form. In Wraeclast, we see the effect that corruption has on beasts, humans, even the dead.
Through my device we see the same thing, but there is no clear source of the vile changes that have turned the pristine landscapes that my father wrote of into the abominations that lay before us. Is Wraeclast's corruption seeping through? Or is something else shaping the development of life out there? And what effect, if any, is it having on us?
Research
My father was a very well educated man. He worked as a researcher in Oriath, back when they were allowed to research more than just holy texts. Sadly, he's gone now.
But his research remained, hidden in our attic. I took what I could and read it in secret as I was moved between foster homes. I read of the mortal founders whose bones were hidden deep in the Ossuary. I read of the false saints who continue to be revered in the Temple of Innocence. I read his writings over and over again. Memorized them. They were the last connection I had to him.
His research became something of an escape, I suppose. I wanted to build on it, especially the maps he described in such great detail. Of course, I'm glad I'm far away from the hollow minds and deaf ears of Theopolis.
I know out here a quick kill solves a lot of problems, but Vorici's eagerness is... unsettling. Plus, he looks at me like I'm one of his marks.
When I utilize my map device, I usually have a good idea of what's on the other side. But I will never know any place the way Tora knows Wraeclast.
What can I say? I admire Catarina's... resourcefulness. I think it's all a bit unnecessary, and how she can bear the smell is beyond me, but I admire it all the same.
He's handsome, charming, and a good dancer. And he knows it. Vagan's a piece of work, alright.
What Elreon says and what I've seen... Well they just don't add up, do they? Don't bother trying to convince him though. Debating with him is about as pleasant as a stroll through Sarn's sewers.
Well, let me put it this way. Haku once asked me if I could make the map device's portals wide enough for an army to march through. That's not a road I want to go down.
