Herald of Agony is a herald skill gem. When activated it reserves mana and grants a buff that gives a chance to inflict poison on enemies, if the enemy is successfully poisoned the character gains Virulence and an Agony Crawler minion.

Skill functions and interactions

Virulence buff cannot go above 40 stacks.

Agony Crawler Minion has an implicit 40% Physical to Chaos damage conversion.

Minion damage can be increased through many methods, such as:

• Gem level boosts, such as and .
• Auras like supported by .
• Elemental Equilibrium from running a skill such as as self-cast to gain Virulence and for its fire damage to boost Hatred damage.
• Frenzy charges also apply to minions at a significant bonus. These can be granted to minions through the shield, or an item providing it .
• Support gems such as: , , and also offer a considerable boost to minion damage. The Crawler is also immune to any form of damage and cannot die, making a great option.
• Temporary effects such as , , and can also be taken advantage of.
• Debuffs such as Intimidate from also increase minion damage.
• Curses like also work.

For faster clear speed consider supports such as , , , and . There is also an Uber Labyrinth enchantment that grants 2 additional projectiles to your Minion Crawler: Summoned Agony Crawler fires 2 additional Projectiles

Consider using to quickly teleport the Crawler to your location. This is useful when dealing with Proximity Shield mobs.
