The Azmeri are a race/faction of Wraeclast. After The Fall of the Vaal, the migrants from the Azmeri descended from the Azmerian Mountains and founded the Eternal Empire in an event known as "Imperialus Conceptus". As a result, although there are Eternals of Azmerian descent, only history before 1 IC is considered "Azmerian". A few descendants of the original Azmeri tribes scatter Wraeclast around the Forest Encampment and within the Viridian Wildwood.

Lunaris is the Azmeri god of the Moon. She is the sister of Solaris and Viridi. According to an Azmerian creation myth, she had a vital hand in the creation of the world.

Viridi

Main page: Viridi

Viridi is an Azmerian god. She is the sister of Solaris and Lunaris. According to an Azmerian creation myth, Viridi was "trapped within" the earth "forever more" during her sister's creation of the world.

Culture

The Maji

The term Maji is most often used to describe a group of Azmeri people that continue to follow the traditions of their ancestors and act as a vanguard for the rest of their people. They were considered the "chosen strongest"[1] and are responsible for purging the Nameless and fighting against the King in the Mists in the Viridian Wildwood to make a future home for Azmeri migrants.

Nature

Most Azmeri appear to have a strong affinity to nature, with certain individuals able to "hear" the will of the trees and the earth.

Tears of Maji

The Azmeri were forbidden from touching gems by instructed Draíocht. Although it is possible for the Azmeri to use a gem through the use of a geomantic socket in armour (albeit still inflicting pain in close proximity), direct contact appears to cause a horrific (possibly fatal) reaction[2]. demonstrated that this curse applies to current descendants of the Azmeri even to the present day. The Maji reject the use of them at all.

This is somewhat similar to the Karui who follow the Way, who forbid the use of virtue gems due to their ability to cause "blood fever"[3].

Creation

The Azmeri believe that the creation of the world was the work of Solaris and Lunaris. Solaris "seared and contorted the orb's surface" to create the mountains and valleys, while Lunaris filled the valleys with water to form rivers and seas. Viridi, the third sister, was trapped within this "orb".

"A raging Solaris seared and contorted the orb's surface.

A despairing Lunaris filled the scars with her tears.

Yet Viridi remained, trapped within, forever more."

- Azmerian Creation Myth[b]

History

Founding the Eternal Empire

The Eternal Empire was founded by the Azmeri, who descended from the Azmerian ranges down to the lands left behind by the Vaal Empire, destroyed by the Vaal Cataclysm.[c] They may have been led by the visions of a young Azmeri, Egrin. Later, Egrin was cast out for these visions, possibly related to The Elder, and taken in by the Order of the Djinn.[d]

"Eighty thousand tribesmen and women" of the Azmeri, led by Tarcus Versuso, descended Azmerian ranges and headed down into the lands left behind by the Vaal Empire after the Vaal Cataclysm. However, although the majority did, not all Azmeri followed Veruso. The Azmeri of The Forest Encampment are the descendants of "their original culture", those who stayed behind.[4]
