Penance Brand of Dissipation is a spell that creates a brand at the target location, which when attached to an enemy adds Energy to the branded enemy and causes a pulse on activation, dealing damage to the branded enemy and nearby enemies.
It is a transfigured version of Penance BrandPenance BrandSpell, AoE, Physical, Lightning, Duration, Brand Level: (1-20) Cost: (15-27) Mana Cast Time: 0.75 sec Critical Strike Chance: 6.00% Effectiveness of Added Damage: 570%Requires Level 28Creates a magical brand which can attach to a nearby enemy. Unlike the original skill, this transfigured version has a limited Attached duration. It repeatedly pulses on activation, increasing in size and damage with the amount of energy on the target. Compared to the original, it has lower damage and damage effectiveness, but more damage with Hits and Ailments to the branded enemy, scaling with the amount of energy added. The brand does not explode on reaching maximum energy, nor is it consumed at maximum energy.
Skill functions and interactions
Energy: Penance Brands of Dissipation apply Energy to targets they are attached to on each activation. Each activation of the brand causes an AOE pulse on the target, increasing in size and damage with each stack of energy, up to 20 energy.
As well as tracking energy stored on the target, brands appear to track energy on themselves as well, and may use different energy counts for damage scaling and AoE scaling. More testing is required.[1]
Multiple brands: If two brands are attached to an enemy (via Runebinder), each brand adds its own Energy to an enemy, up to a sum total of 20 energy. Once a total of 20 energy is reached, the brands stop adding energy until one expires. This results in smaller than expected pulses. For example, if an enemy has two brands that have added 12 and 8 energy to it, neither one can reach 20 energy and will continue to pulse at a medium size until one expires.
