Gem tag
All Skill gems have gem tags (also called keywords) listed in the first line of the mouseover description. In addition to dividing the skills into groups, gem tags largely determine which support gems and modifiers can modify a certain skill. The relationship is not strict, however.
Mechanics
Generally support skill gems with gem tags that match those of a active skill gems can be used to support the active skill by placing them into a linked item socket.
Please note there are exceptions to this rule:
- Some support gems may only apply to a specific portion of the skill instead of the entire skill (refer to active skill's page for more information)
- The Bow tag qualifies as Projectile tag.
- Active skills with the Projectile can also be supported by gems with the Chaining tag, but not counterwise
- The Support tag is exclusive to support skill gems
