Dark Pact is a chaos spell that removes some life from one of your minions near you or the targeted location to deal chaos damage in an area around it. This effect will chain to your other nearby skeletons. If you have no skeletons near you or the targeted location, it will sacrifice your own life to deal damage instead.

If 8% of maximum life cannot be removed (e.g. maximum life is 1 due to Chaos Inoculation), the spell can still be used and will lower the player to 1 life, but will lose part or all of the additional base damage scaling from life. The more damage multiplier will always take effect when not casting on a skeleton, even if no life is actually sacrificed.

If Dark Pact is repeated (e.g. , , Echoing Shrine, Summon Triggerbots), life is sacrificed for each repeated/reoccuring cast or trigger.

Supported Skills have (1-20)% increased Minion maximum LifeThis is a Support Gem. It does not grant a bonus to your character, but to skills in sockets connected to it. Place into an item socket connected to a socket containing the Skill Gem you wish to augment. Right click to remove from a socket. increase the damage dealt when cast on skeletons. The skill tooltip does not factor the base damage from sacrificed life into its calculation as it is conditional.

Proxy: Proxies will attempt to target an allied skeleton if one is nearby. If not, the proxy will use Dark Pact sacrificing its own life; totems can scale this with totem life modifiers. Proxies will get the more damage bonus from using life if not targeting an allied skeleton.

Minion Instability: Dark Pact can be used to forcibly lower the life of your Skeleton minions to low life. Doing so will trigger the effect of the Keystone passive Minion Instability.

Minion modifiers: Despite having the minion tag, there are no minion-specific support gems that can support Dark Pact, and modifiers that affect minion stats do not affect Dark Pact. However, modifiers such as Overseer'sOverseer's
Prefix
+2 to Level of all Minion Skill Gems found on helmets or modifiers that increase socketed Minion gem level, (e.g. , , ) will increase the level of Dark Pact. Using Dark Pact is considered using a minion skill.

Chaining: If targeting a skeleton, Dark Pact will chain from the skeleton to other nearby skeletons based on your number of chains. Each skeleton used to chain Dark Pact will lose 8% of its maximum life; this is not considered taking damage.
