* Generic modifiers to damage dealt will now apply to damage over time that your character causes. Damage over time is not spell damage, nor attack damage, so modifiers specific to those types will not apply. Non-specific "increased damage" modifiers will apply to damage over time. Type-specific modifiers will apply as well. | |||

This skill Punctures the target, causing a bleeding debuff. While bleeding, the target takes damage over time based on how much damage was dealt on the initial hit. The bleeding deals more damage while moving. Puncture works with bows, daggers, claws or swords.
Mechanics
Increasing the duration of Puncture via the % increased Skill Effect Duration modifier, the Module Error: No skills found with q_where = skill.active_skill_name="Increased Duration" support gem, or the Module Error: Too many skills found with q_where = skill.active_skill_name="Temporal Chains". Please choose only one of the following ids:
IzaroTemporalChains - Base duration is (5.00-6.45) seconds, 40% reduced Effect of Curse against Players, Cursed Normal and Magic Enemies have (15-25)% less Action Speed, Other effects on Cursed enemies expire 25% slower, Cursed Rare and Unique Enemies have 7% less Action Speed (page)
TemporalChains - Base duration is (5.00-8.80) seconds, +(0-1) metre to radius, 50% less Effect of Curse against Players, Cursed Normal and Magic Enemies have (15-29)% less Action Speed, Other effects on Cursed enemies expire 25% slower, Cursed Rare and Unique Enemies have (9-18)% less Action Speed (page) curse causes the Puncture to deal the same damage per second over a greater period of time.
Separate applications of Puncture do not stack cumulatively. Each Puncture remains present on the target until it runs its course, but only the one with the highest damage per second will cause damage at any given moment.[1] For example, assume an enemy is inflicted with Puncture for 100 damage per second, then after 3 seconds it is inflicted with a second Puncture for 50 damage per second. The outcome will be 500 damage over 5 seconds followed by 150 damage over 3 seconds.
As a damage over time effect, Puncture's damage can be affected positively or negatively by some damage modifiers. Notably, modifiers to spell damage and attack damage (also often referred to as damage with x weapon) do not apply to the Puncture DoT as it is not a spell or attack.[2] The following modifiers will directly affect the damage of the Puncture damage over time effect; note that some of these modifiers apply only to the DoT whereas some also apply to the initial hit:
- Damage over Time modifiers
- Damage modifiers
- Physical Damage modifiers
- Projectile Damage modifiers
- Trap Damage modifiers if applied with the Module Error: No skills found with q_where = skill.active_skill_name="Trap" support gem
- Mine Damage modifiers if applied with the Module Error: No skills found with q_where = skill.active_skill_name="Remote Mine" support gem
- Totem Damage modifiers if applied with the Module Error: No skills found with q_where = skill.active_skill_name="Ranged Attack Totem" support gem
- Area Damage modifiers if applied by a secondary hit with the Module Error: No skills found with q_where = skill.active_skill_name="Melee Splash" support gem
