Guide:Best in slot base types
Below is a summary of the lists of Helmets, Body armour, Gloves, Boots, and Shields showing just the items with the highest Defence stats, per type, per slot. This is organized into one BiS page to be easily visible on one screen while mapping or editing item filters and learning about what base types to look for, within your desired defensive stat(s).
For the most part, the best two base types are listed, and the one with the higher defensive stat is listed lower in the table. The second-best base type is included because in many cases it has a special implicit or much lower stat requirement than the base with the higher defensive stat and you may find the tradeoff worthwhile. Unlike hybrid Armour and Evasion Rating that have similar values, Energy Shield's numbers are lower, so hybrid items with Energy Shield are sorted so that the higher Energy Shield values appear lower in the table than the higher Armour items.
This table includes base types that can drop from random white monsters in Maps. This excludes base types obtainable from deliberate interaction with league mechanics such as Ritual (e.g.,
