In the Sentinel Challenge League, ancient constructs have been unearthed across Wraeclast. You will harness the power of these Sentinels to control your level of risk and reward on the battlefield. When deployed, they follow you for a short time and empower your enemies, greatly increasing both their difficulty and reward.

Sentinel League is a challenge league. It launched on May 13, 2022 (UTC), alongside the Version 3.18.0 patch.[1] and ends on August 16, 2022 (UTC).[2]

After the Leagues ends, Sentinel will not added to the core game. Existing Recombinators can still be used, but will no longer drop. Existing Sentinels and Power Cores will be deleted.[3]

League Mechanic

Sentinels are primarily found from Sentinel Caches that occasionally spawn in zones and from enemy drops. The first time you open a Sentinel Cache, a Sentinel Controller will drop. Using it will add Sentinel equip slots and the Sentinel Controller menu to your character. There are three types of Sentinels and one of each type can be equipped at a time: Stalker (red), Apex (yellow), and Pandemonium (blue). Actually using them will require you to allocate power to the Sentinel nodes. Sentinels mods cannot be modified via crafting.

When a Sentinel is activated, it will follow you and fire beams at nearby enemies to empower them, restoring it to full life and giving it an Empowerment buff, increasing the monsters' damage dealt and lessening their damage taken while increasing experience and item yield based on the Empowerment amount. Empowered monsters may also gain an additional reward drop. Each Sentinel can be activated once per zone and disappears after empowering a set number of enemies, when manually dismissed, or when the user dies.

Sentinel Controller

The Sentinel Controllers allows you to allocate passive bonuses to Sentinels by making connections between nodes using Filaments. Each Filament requires one Power Core to charge. Killing empowered enemies will grant experience towards additional Power Cores. Up to 30 Power Cores can be acquired. Filaments can be added and removed from the Controller freely. You can make changes to the Sentinel Controller configuration anywhere, but the changes will not be applied until move to a different zone.

Sentinels can be activated up to a number of times equal to their charges. There is no way to add charges to a Sentinel.

Power Core

A Power Core allows you to combine two Sentinels (regardless of charges left) to create a new, fully charged Sentinel. The Sentinel will receive a combination of mods from both components, with a chance for unpredictable changes. Certain Sentinel base types can only be created with Power Cores. There are four different types of Power Cores.

Empowered enemies with the Sentinel reward icon can drop Recombinators, which lets you combine two equipment of the specified type to create a new item with a combination of the mods from the components, much like Power Cores.
