Harvest is a league mechanic where the player fights monsters in The Sacred Grove to access various Harvest crafting options that they provide.
This page discusses the current iteration of the Harvest mechanic - see the Harvest league page for a discussion of the mechanic as it was originally introduced.
The Sacred Grove
Maps have a chance to contain a portal to the Sacred Grove. Each Sacred Grove instance contains 2-4 Lifeforce Dispersers, which are each attached to two patches of seeds. Each seed patch shows a list of monsters that will spawn from the patch, and the type of Lifeforce (color) they will drop, as well as the tiers of the seeds. Players can choose which patch to activate - when a patch is chosen, the other patch attached to the Lifeforce Disperser withers, and monsters spawn from the activated patch. These monsters drop Crystallised Lifeforce which can be used for crafting recipes at the Horticrafting Station. Depending on the tiers of the seeds, greater amounts of Lifeforce can drop. They go from a dull gray for the lowest tier, white, light blue, and then an orange-brown to denote the highest tier which has special loot and enemies explained further below. The seeds are ordered by tier from lowest to highest when read from top to bottom in the encounter.
The Sacred Grove is part of the map instance it is entered from, which means map modifiers apply within the Grove as well. Item quantity modifiers will affect the amount of Lifeforce dropped by monsters.
Bosses
There is a small chance for a tier 4 seed patch to spawn, which contain a Boss monster. Their names have an orange-brown color, like unique items. It is possible for more than one copy of a T4 seed to appear in a plot, and it is possible for the boss to get duplicated via Harvest passives.

Version history
Harvest was originally introduced in the Harvest league (version 3.11.0). In its original form, the player had to place down plants and lifeforce dispersers and tanks to grow the seeds, which rewarded a random Harvest craft. It was added to the core game in version 3.13.0 (Echoes of the Atlas expansion) in a significantly modified form, removing the need for players to grow the harvest crops. In version 3.19.0, Harvest was reworked, with plants no longer giving random crafts and instead having monsters drop Lifeforce that are used to pay for Harvest crafting recipes.
