Contagion is a spell that deals chaos damage to all enemies in the area, and spreads when an enemy dies. Neither the duration of Contagion nor associated degeneration effects (Module Error: Too many skills found with q_where = skill.active_skill_name="Essence Drain". Please choose only one of the following ids:
ExileShadowEssenceDrain - Deals (3-696) to (4-1093) Chaos Damage, Deals (2.6-662.4) Base Chaos Damage per second, Base duration is 2.50 seconds, (0-15)% increased Projectile Speed, Fires 2 additional Projectiles (page)
EssenceDrainRoyale - Deals (6-82) to (9-124) Chaos Damage, Deals (20.8-285.9) Base Chaos Damage per second, Base duration is 2.00 seconds, Modifiers to Spell Damage apply to this Skill's Damage Over Time effect, Regenerate +0.30% of Debuff Damage as Life (page)) are reset when spread to allies on death.

Skill functions and interactions

  • Damage over time: Modifiers to spell, area, chaos damage, and damage over time affect the damage over time component of this spell.
  • Area of effect: modifiers to AoE radius (such as #% increased Radius of Area Skills from Module Error: No skills found with q_where = skill.active_skill_name="Increased Area of Effect Support") affect both skill radius and spread radius of Contagion and Essence Drain effects.[1] Area damage (from e.g. Module Error: No skills found with q_where = skill.active_skill_name="Concentrated Effect Support") does not apply.[2]
  • Contagion does not hit, and therefore cannot confer the effects of supports such as Module Error: No skills found with q_where = skill.active_skill_name="Blind Support" or Module Error: No skills found with q_where = skill.active_skill_name="Curse On Hit Support".
