Sap is an Elemental Ailment associated with lightning that causes the affected targets to deal up to 20% less damage, based on the amount of Lightning Damage in the hit,[1] for 4 seconds.
The experimented base types have alternative help text, which indicated they have an alternative default value 6% less damage for 4 seconds.
Sap's magnitude is given by the formula: (100/3) * (Damage / ailment threshold)^0.4.[2]
