Mechanics

The Fourth Vow has high synergy with Divine Flesh and the Juggernaut's Unbreakable ascendancy, due to armour's mitigation scaling. The smaller the incoming hit, the more effective armour is, and spreading damage taken over multiple damage types decreases the average damage taken.
