Vaal Detonate Dead is a vaal cast that explodes a corpse and all other nearby corpses in a chain reaction, dealing fire damage.

Skill Interactions

Ascendancy Interaction: Despite Detonate Dead exploiting an unused corpse, this skill does NOT satisfy the condition of consuming a corpse for the purpose of the Necromancer's Spirit Eater Notable or the Ascendant's Necromancer Notable. This is easily tested by taking the Necromancer's Spirit Eater, and using Detonate Dead on a corpse. The players damage does NOT increase after using Detonate Dead. However, this Notable may still be useful for the additional corpses creates by desecrate but does not increase damage after Detonate Dead is used to destroy a corpse.

  • Vaal Skill soul counts were initially balanced for Merciless difficulty, where there are more monsters. We want them to be easier to use in Normal and Cruel difficulty. We have halved the number of souls required for each skill. In Cruel difficulty, skills require 50% more souls to uses. In Merciless difficulty, they require 100% more (which is the same as before the patch).
