In the wake of the Cataclysm, the locations of the kingdom's stolen treasures, secreted away in caches throughout the land, were lost to record and tale. Of the Perandus family, only Cadiro remains alive, forever sustained by his devotion to Prospero. He wanders the countryside in search of his lost caches, eager to reclaim them and their riches.

The Perandus league and Hardcore Perandus league were a pair of challenge leagues. They began on {{#show: Perandus league|?Has release date}} with the launch of the Ascendancy expansion, and ended on {{#show: Perandus league|?Has end date}}.[1] There were 40 optional challenges, and players were rewarded with Perandus-themed microtransactions after finishing 12, 24, and 36 challenges.

The league was based on the Perandus family, which controlled much of the Eternal Empire's wealth. Although the empire was destroyed by the Cataclysm, Cadiro Perandus had managed to hide its treasures in secret caches around Wraeclast. These caches appeared randomly in zones, but in order to open them players first had to defeat all of the guards. Players could also encounter Cadiro himself, who would offer an item in exchange for Perandus CoinsPerandus CoinStack Size: 5000Trade coins to Cadiro Perandus.. Perandus Coins could only be obtained by opening caches or trading with other players.

A the end of the leagues, all characters and stashes were moved to Standard league and Hardcore league. Characters that died in the Hardcore Perandus league were immediately moved to the permanent Standard league.
