Metamod

Metamod or known as Meta-crafting mod, refer to these crafted modifiers

• of Prefixes - Prefixes Cannot Be Changed (Suffix)
• Suffixed - Suffixes Cannot Be Changed (Prefix)
• of Spellcraft - Cannot roll Attack Modifiers (Suffix)
• of Weaponcraft - Cannot roll Caster Modifiers (Suffix)
• of Dueling - Cannot roll Modifiers with Required Level above 28 (Suffix)

Of which only the last one is legacy mod that can only be found in item in permanent leagues.

While of Crafting - Can have up to 3 Crafted Modifiers (Suffix) is not affecting the meta of the item, it is still considered as one of the matamod and was gated behind level 8 Master. It can be used in the crafting, for example by crafting temp mods on the item to block Exalted OrbExalted OrbStack Size: 20Augments a rare item with a new random modifierRight click this item then left click a rare item to apply it. Rare items can have up to six random modifiers. to select those mods (or mods from those mod groups). However, since it is expensive, it is more use in situation such as multi-craft item to finish that 3-mods item with 2 more crafted mods that synergize.

All these mod are now unlocked via specific end-game map. Read Crafting Bench § Crafting modifiers for details.

Metamod doesn't grant stats or bonuses, but affects other mods and may override regular crafting rules.

Note that a few currencies and crafting method other than using basic currencies , are ignoring metamod. Notably essence and fossil.

• Prefixes Cannot Be Changed

If the item has 1 open prefix (ie. only 2 prefixes and 1 additional space) and the Prefixes Cannot Be Changed is the only suffix, the Orbs may add 1 prefix as well as 0 to 3 suffixes to the item, or add 0 prefix and add 1 to 3 suffixes to the item. Players can still kept the open prefix by crafting multi-mod (Can have up to 3 Crafted Modifiers) and fill the open prefix with temp crafted mod, as well Prefixes Cannot Be Changed on the item, and then use the aforementioned Orb. Note that each use of Orb and crafted mods are expensive in this way.

• Suffixes Cannot Be Changed

The use of Suffixes Cannot Be Changed is similar to Prefixes Cannot Be Changed. Only the difference is: Can have up to 3 Crafted Modifiers is a suffix.

• Cannot roll Attack Modifiers

The mod prevent any item with the attack mod tag (mod tag can be viewed on item by pressing Alt in PC; console has other default keybind) spawn on the item. List of datamined mod can be viewed here.

For example, the mod pool of a normal non-influenced bow contains all but one prefix mod that does not have attack mod tag. Other basetype can also be use this metamod. However, other basetype may have mod that both attack and caster in the mod pool, or mod that neither attack nor caster mod . Orb of Scouring is commonly used with the metamod Prefixes Cannot Be Changed or Suffixes Cannot Be Changed:

the Orb of Scouring will remove ALL suffix (including Prefixes Cannot Be Changed) and keep ALL prefix of the item, if the item has crafted with the mod Prefixes Cannot Be Changed.

the Orb of Scouring will remove ALL prefix (including Suffixes Cannot Be Changed) and keep ALL suffix of the item, if the item has crafted with the mod Suffixes Cannot Be Changed.
