When one redditor made a comment about how seemingly lackluster the Oppressor is, Chris Wilson replied stating that "[The Oppressor] is amazing at doing what it's supposed to do". Although it was never explicitly stated, there is a strong implication that the developers included the Oppressor in the version 3.16.0 update in order to prevent players from deterministically acquiring the Squire.
