In Supporter newsletter #4, it is revealed that the "Lazhwar" mentioned in the item's name is an "old archbishop of the Eternal Faith" who dabbled in thaumaturgy. It is implied that he created or entered maps and that Malachai took inspiration from Lazhwar's designs when constructing The Eternal Laboratory. After the Purity Rebellion, Voll burned Lazhwar at the stake for ‘fraternizing with unholy forces’.
However, due to the age of the source, lack of in-game evidence, and inconsistencies with more recent & better established events of Wraeclast's history, it is uncertain whether this information is official at the time of writing.
