Herald of Ice

Herald of Ice is a self-cast buff that reserves mana to increase damage output. See also Herald of Ash and Herald of Thunder.

Mechanics

Like Herald of Ash and Herald of Thunder, Herald of Ice has two separate effects on the player:

• the first adds flat x-y cold damage to spells and attacks.
• the second is the on-kill effect. Upon shattering an enemy, the enemy explodes dealing cold secondary damage to surround targets in an AoE. Enemies will shatter if they are killed whilst frozen. Added damage support gems such as will be added to the explosion only.

It is worth noting that Herald of Ice is a secondary damage and not spell damage, and does not receive any direct bonuses from spell damage modifiers. This includes bonuses from items, passive nodes and spell only support gems such as and

The quality of the gem is global. This means that the increased Cold Damage will affect all types of cold skills, not just Herald of Ice.

Version history

Version	Changes
1.3.0	Herald of Ice and Herald of Thunder have been changed from Spell to Cast active skill types to indicate that they deal secondary damage and not spell damage.
1.2.4	Herald of Ice no longer has the Spell tag, and instead has the Cast tag (to make it more clear that it does not deal spell damage).
