Tempered by War is a keystone passive skill which causes 50% of Cold and Lightning Damage to be taken as Fire Damage at the cost of 50% less Cold Resistance and Lightning Resistance

Mechanics

When combined with a "taken as Fire" Avian Twins Talisman no cold or lightning damage from hits is taken for the chosen element.

- Maxarius, the first High Templar, no cold and lightning damage is taken; it is taken entirely as Fire Damage. It is also possible to achieve 100% of Physical Damage taken as Fire Damage as well.

In cases where all damage is taken as another element (not just the hit damage), it is safe to not gear for the original resistance at all. Taking damage as another element also prevents element-specific penetration (e.g. The Shaper's cold penetration) from applying.
