Mechanics
The modifier Your Hits can only Kill Frozen enemies means any damage applied by a hit (attack, spell, or secondary damage) will not reduce a monster's life below 1. Damage over time effects such as ignite or poison will still kill monsters. The modifier also allows enemies to survive the effects of Culling Strike.
Southbound is the only item that can potentially prevent individual entities from getting on kill effects from hits. This effect is currently limited to characters and Animate GuardianAnimate GuardianSpell, Minion

Solo
Splash: Players using splash damage and skills that target multiple enemies near each other, can do more solo damage per second, than if the enemy was alone. Because southbound can prevent enemies from dying, it will increase the amount of time lower life enemies are alive near higher life enemies, allowing players to take advantage of the damage benefits more often.
- For example, with ancestral call and melee splash support, a single strike against an enemies surrounded by 2 enemies results in 3 hits total to 1 enemy per attack.
Vaal souls - Vaal skills with very short times of soul gain prevention can almost always be up against large groups of enemies with some patience and southbound gloves. Use the vaal skill on a large group of enemies, but don't kill them immediately by using the strategy listed above. Once the short soul gain prevention time is over kill all enemies with a non-vaal skill and you will always gain back the souls you used for the vaal skill.
- Example: Module Error: No results found for item using search term "item_name = Vaal Ground Slam" has a base soul gain prevention time of 1 second. This can be reduced further by Vaal Skills have % reduced Soul Gain Prevention Duration. Therefore, making the character have to wait less than 1 second after using the vaal skill to kill the enemies and still gain all souls from the kills. Party
Benefits
Southbound can give unique benefits to parties. By having only 1 character in the party capable of killing all enemies, that 1 person can get all the on kill effects, without the rest of the party having to invest in the same modifiers for those effects to benefit the party. Some examples include:
- Item drops - High item quantity and rarity calculate the character who kills only.
- Buffs - Some buffs are specifically granted to the person who made the kill. For Example:
- Aura Buffs from kills will calculate the character who kills only. Some examples include Module Error: No results found for item using search term "item_name = Breathstealer", Module Error: No results found for item using search term "item_name = Headhunter", and Module Error: No results found for item using search term "item_name = Inspired Learning".
- Souleater - One player can get all of the kills for maximum soul eater buffs on an individual character while in a party. Note: Souleater prevents the party from getting vaal souls.
- Explosions - If one character has a high investment in damage from enemy corpses exploding, that individual will cause more damage to packs of monsters if they get all the kills.
Downsides
Having only 1 player get all the kills may cause lag to the party.
