A Perandus chest

Perandus chests are small golden chests with a cylindrical shape that were part of the Perandus leagues. They currently cannot be found in the game.

They were guarded by packs of golden monsters and unique chest guardians. The chest will revive slain guardians, eventually unlocking after reviving a certain amount of monsters. Sometimes a chest is also guarded by unique enemies. Killing them automatically unlocks the chest, but it is still possible to unlock the chest by killing lesser monsters. The chest may also cast an effect while locked.

Once the chest is unlocked, its guardians will gradually disappear, even ones that aren't slain. Whatever effect the chest might provide will also be disabled.

When the chests are opened they drop loot and Perandus CoinsPerandus CoinStack Size: 5000Trade coins to Cadiro Perandus. that could be used to purchase various items from Cadiro Perandus.

Chest Effects

The chest can have one of these effects:

  • Casts a very large Proximity Shield around it.
  • Casts a permanent Vaal Haste.
  • Casts a green cloud that shrinks your character. Shrink is a stacking debuff that applies decreased damage dealt and character size and increased damage taken.
  • ...

Farming

Dread Thicket[1] and Solaris Temple had a high chance of spawning perandus chests, and were a good place for farming Perandus CoinsPerandus CoinStack Size: 5000Trade coins to Cadiro Perandus. and Cadiro Perandus encounters.

As of roughly March 20th, 2016 the Solaris Farming method has been altered to have a substantially reduced amount of Cadiro spawns, and of the spawns of all containers except Chest and Hoard. This was confirmed by many people both in-game and on Reddit that not only did this reduction occur, but Cadiro has also greatly reduced the rate at which he sells high-tier uniques and currency. Dread Thicket may still be a good farming spot, as it was rather unknown and underutilized as Solaris is extremely efficient in terms of layout.
