Corrupted Soul is a keystone passive skill which causes 50% Non-Chaos damage taken to bypass Energy shield and grants 15% of Maximum Life as Extra Maximum Energy Shield.

Mechanics

50% of Non-Chaos Damage taken bypasses Energy Shield:

This is especially useful if you have a source of both Life and Energy shield regeneration or recovery, e.g. the Inquisitor's Ascendancy Notable Pious Path. Making you able to recover both Life and Energy Shield simultaneously.

Example of a character with 3000 Maximum Life and 3000 Maximum Energy Shield:

• Without Corrupted Soul:
  • A monster hitting you for 1000 damage of any Non-Chaos damage will reduce your Energy Shield by 1000.
  • Giving you the chance of recovering Energy Shield through any form of recovery but not Life because it is still full.
• With Corrupted Soul:
  • A monster hitting you for 1000 damage of any Non-Chaos damage will reduce your Energy Shield by 500 and Life by 500.
  • Giving you the chance of recovering both Life and Energy Shield.

Gain 15% of Maximum Life as Extra Maximum Energy Shield:

Adds 15% of your Maximum Life as base Energy Shield after all modifiers affecting Life. (e.g. #% increased Maximum Life, +# to Maximum Life)

Example of a character with 1000 base Life and 200% increased Maximum Life:

Then we take the Maximum Life and calculate the amount gained as Extra (base) Maximum Energy Shield.

Giving your character an extra 450 Energy Shield as base. This extra Energy Shield works exactly as any other source of base Energy Shield.

Version	Changes
3.14.0	Now causes you to Gain 15% of Maximum Life as Extra Maximum Energy Shield (down from 20%). It allowed life base characters to get large amounts of Energy Shield very easily, while the Non-Chaos Damage taken bypasses Energy Shield stat didn't prove to be a significant downside for most builds taking the Keystone.
