Cannot Ignite, Chill, Freeze or Shock
Critical Strikes inflict Scorch, Brittle and Sapped [1]

Even within the realm of torture, there are subtle intricacies.

Secrets of Suffering is an item exclusive keystone passive skill. Upon taking it, the character will be unable to directly Ignite, Chill, Freeze or Shock enemies, but will inflict Scorch, Brittle, and Sapped upon a critical strike.

However, the magnitude of the alt ailments still requires the matching elemental damage. Otherwise zero magnitude ailment will be discarded by the game server.

Mechanics

Chill and Shocked can still be applied indirectly with;

• Summon Skitterbots aura,
• chilled ground created by an Aquamarine Flask
• chilled ground created by Cold Snap
• chilled ground created by Frostblink
• Chilling area created by Vortex
• chilled ground created by Arctic Armor

Notably, Chilled Ground from Creeping Frost does NOT work despite being worded similarly to all the working sources above. Hydrosphere & Wintertide do not work either, but they are more intuitive as the source of Chill is more obviously the player.

• shocked ground such as from the unique boots Wake of Destruction.
• Direct effects from the player such as the Chilling Presence notable on cluster jewels will not work

Hexblast does not work with Secrets of Suffering. Hexblast only allows Chill, Ignite & Shock to be applied, and Secrets of Suffering will disable Hexblast from applying them, without allowing Hexblast to apply Scorch/Brittle/Sap more than 0% magnitude
