Permanent Leagues

Standard is the default league and has no modifiers. Hardcore has the hardcore modifier, meaning characters who die are moved to Standard. Hardcore is equivalent to "permadeath" in other RPGs, though your character and items are not automatically deleted.

Challenge Leagues

Every four months, two new leagues are created and the previous two challenge leagues are removed. These leagues are intended to introduce and test new content while providing players with a fresh economy.[1] In addition, each pair of leagues has a set of eight optional challenges that can be completed for a prize.

The current leagues are Dominion and Nemesis, starting October 23rd and ending (approximately) February 23rd.

  • Domination: A variety of powerful shrines now spawn throughout Wraeclast, surrounded by large groups of monsters that receive powerful buffs from the shrine. If you get close to a shrine and "tag" it, you receive the shrine's bonuses for a short time.
  • Nemesis: A hardcore league where rare monsters have one guaranteed mod from the Nemesis Pool, which makes the fight substantially harder. These mods include ???

From June 8th to October 8th:

  • Anarchy: Rogue Exiles will sometimes spawn in areas and attack you. The rogue exiles were later added to the rest of the leagues and spawn at around 60% of the rate that they appear in Anarchy. They were also rebalanced.[1]
  • Onslaught: A hardcore league with monsters moving and attacking/casting 20% faster.

Race Leagues

Main page: Races

Race leagues are non-permanent leagues created specifically for a single race event.

These leagues have their own stash. At the end of the event, characters and their stashed items will be moved to the parent league. The items will be placed in a remove-only stash tab.

Leagues Modifiers

Other than Default, leagues generally have modifiers to add special rules that alter the way the game is played[2].

Ancestral

First introduced in S1E51.

  • All areas except in towns have enemy totems spread across the zone that grant benefits to your enemies and attempt to kill you.

Blood Magic

First introduced in S1E61.

  • Characters act as if they have the Blood Magic passive allocated. This will cause said characters to consume life instead of mana for skills with mana cost and mana reservations.

Cut-Throat

  • Equipped items are dropped on death.
  • Players are allowed to enter others' instances at will.
  • The death experience penalty is increased by 30% on all difficulty levels.
  • Players are hostile to one another by default when not partied.
  • Killing a player awards their death penalty experience to the killer.
  • Player capacity in non-town instances is doubled. This does not increase the maximum party size.

Famine

Fixed Seed

  • All instances of a given area will have the same area layout, for all players.
  • The minimap will automatically be fully revealed.
  • Multiple Race Events regularly will have the same seed. That is, the instance area layouts will be same in all the races of a fixed seed set.

Hardcore

  • Characters who die are moved to the Standard league.

Immolation

Lethal

Multiple Projectile

First introduced in S1E53.

No Projectiles

  • Players deal no damage with projectile-based skills and attacks.

Rogue

  • All areas except towns have a rogue exile, which spawns at a random location within the area.

Solo

  • Players are not allowed to form parties.

Turbo

  • Monsters run, attack and cast 60% faster.

Version History
