For the area accessible from completing an Abyss encounter in map, see Abyssal Depths.

Abyssal Depths is one of the biome of the Azurite Mine. As the name suggests, the area uses Abyss theme and contains Abyss monsters. The biome, however, different from Abyssal City. Abyssal City is the biome to spawn The Lich's Tomb, the node of the Delve boss Kurgal, the Blackblooded, or the Abyssal Chamber node, which contain crafting recipe and other loots.

Both Abyssal Depths and Abyssal City use a green tile in the Subterranean Chart. The Abyssal City has additional golden color boundaries, but Abyssal Depths does not have such boundaries in the chart.

The internal id of the areas ranged from Delve_AbyssalDepths to Delve_AbyssalDepths8.

However, the game usually spawns an area instance that contains multiple biomes, and displays the name of the area as Azurite Mine instead.

Abyssal Depths can spawn Unspeakable Shrine, which contains a slightly different Abyss encounter, or other Delve node with generic rewards.

The Crystal Spire node, which drops Hollow FossilHollow FossilStack Size: 10Has an Abyssal socketPlace in a Resonator to influence item crafting., also spawns in this biome.

Other nodes such as Pulsating Grotto (Beyond), Runed Cavern (Harbinger), Whispering Gallery (Breach), seem not tied to any biome and can also be spawned in Abyssal Depths.

Lore

Abyssal Depths of the Azurite Mine, has the same name with the area that only accessible from completing an Abyss encounter in map.

However, there is no in-game lore to explain why the mystery Abyss in map can spawn a portal / tunnel to travel to Abyssal Depths, and at the same time player character can delve to an area that has the same name with map version.
