Deal with the Bandits

This quest is given to you by Eramir in the Forest Encampment after completing Through Sacred Ground. There are three different bandit leaders which you can either side with or kill in order to get different rewards.

• Kraityn: Located in Broken Bridge (entrance located in Old Fields → Crossroads)
• Alira: Located in The Western Forest (entrance located in River Crossings → Dark Forest).
• Oak: Located in Pools and Streams (entrance located in River Crossings → Vaal Ruins Level 1 → Vaal Ruins Level 2. Note that access to the Vaal Ruins requires completion of the The Weaver's Needle and Intruders in Black side quests).
• Kill All Three: If you choose to kill all the bandit leaders, turn-in the 3 Fragments to Eramir in the Forest Encampment who will join them and reward you with 1 passive skill point.

No matter if you've sided with one of the bandit leader or if you've killed them all, completion of this quest will provide you with the quest item The ApexThe ApexThough its power has been shared, there
is still more the Apex might unlock. which you will use on the Dark Altar (entrance located in Pools and Streams → Waterfall Caves → Ancient Pyramid Level 1).

Important Note: The 18% damage bonus from Oak in Cruel is one of the most effective means to increase Ethereal Knives and Bear Trap damage, and should be strongly considered even for non-weapon based builds.

Quest reward change

It is possible to change your Bandit choice. To do this, execute one of the following Vendor Recipes on the preferred Difficulty.

1.0.1	Eight new vendor recipes have been added in two groups of four, including ones for changing which bandit quest reward you chose. To change your bandit quest reward, use the book that you receive from the recipe in the appropriate difficulty. If you had Eramir's reward, you will need a skill point available to change away from it.

0.9.3h	Fixed a bug that would enable you to activate the Dark Altar without having a Combined Amulet. This used to prevent people getting bandit quest rewards.
