Commander of Darkness is a notable Ascendancy passive skill for the Necromancer that causes each of your aura skills that affect yourself and allies to also grant increased attack speed and cast speed. Independently of aura skills, it also grants you and nearby allies increased damage and elemental resistance.

Mechanics

Commander of Darkness causes each aura skill that normally affects you and allies to also grant 3% increased Attack and Cast Speed. These bonuses do not apply to auras that affect enemies like PridePrideSpell, AoE, Aura, Physical

Supported Skills have (2-40)% increased Aura Area of EffectThis is a Support Gem. It does not grant a bonus to your character, but to skills in sockets connected to it. Place into an item socket connected to a socket containing the Skill Gem you wish to augment. Right click to remove from a socket., rounded down to the nearest integer per aura. For example, a Necromancer with 6 auras active and 50% Increased Aura Effect will grant 4% Attack and Cast Speed per aura (not 4.5%), granting a total of 24% Increased Attack and Cast Speed. Note the speed is not 27%, as one might initially expect; this is the result of the rounding down per aura. The following table lists several breakpoints in increased Aura Effect for increased speed.

The resistance and damage bonuses granted by Commander of Darkness are not dependent on aura skills, nor do these bonuses scale with aura effect. They have no buff icon, so it may be hard for allies to monitor they are affected by Commander of Darkness or not, unless they keep the Character screen open.

Commander of Darkness in Ruthless mode does not grant increased damage to you and nearby allies and provides less elemental resistances.
