Strongbox

Special chests called 'strongboxes can be found throughout Wraeclast. These chests are guarded by monsters that ambush the player when they are opened. The ambushing monsters must be slain before the contents of the Strongbox can be claimed.

Like items and monsters, strongboxes can be magic, rare or unique with special modifiers. You can use currency items to add or reroll these mods. One of the challenges for the Ambush league is to open Strongboxes with each mod.

Type determines the base type of item drops from the chest.

Prefixes

Prefixes affect the difficulty of the ambush by adding more monsters, springing traps or affecting your character.

Incandescent	Sets player on fire
Intimidating	Guarded by 3 packs of magic monsters

Ossified	Summons Skeletons
Putrifying	Detonates nearby corpses
Rallying	Waves of enemies spawn to defend chest
Reaper's	Revives nearby corpses with Onslaught
Scorched	Casts Firestorm
Unstable	Explosion centered on strongbox
Vibrating	Casts Storm Call
Whispering	Casts a random curse on player
