Lore

Likes other monsters, there is no official lore in the official website or from in-game environmental objects. However, since Solar Guard is spawned along with Solaris Elite, probably after the falls of the High Templar Avarius (as well as the wake up of gods due to The Beast is killed), those templars under the High Templar are changed to loyal to Solaris instead. Thus, the Blackguard Elite became Solaris Elite, the Prayer Guard became Solar Elemental and Solar Guard.

While out of the 4th wall explanation is the dev simply reused the game assets to create "new" monster.
