Mechanics

When the player hits an enemy with an attack using Mjölner, one of each lightning spell socketed in Mjölner will be cast instantly, once per hit and without costing mana, similar to a trigger gem. If multiple spells are socketed, then they are cast in the order of the sockets, starting from the top left and working down through the links, sequentially. For instance, if you have Arc, Storm Call, and Spark linked from top to bottom, the Arc will always cast on the first hit, then the Storm Call, then the Spark, repeating the sequence on successive hits. The hits are rolled against your chance to hit. If you have taken the Resolute Technique notable, the chance to hit is 100% and the roll is ignored, proccing (PROC, or Programmed Random OCcurrence) the spell socketed in Mjölner, instantly. Unlike trigger gems like , multiple copies of the same lightning spell can be triggered.

However, due to the sequentiality of the casting, a damage or spreading support such as Controlled Destruction and/or Elemental Focus (if Resolute Technique is taken and you don't have a node or a mod on equipment that grants a chance to cause the relevant status ailment to proc, you won't be causing status ailments anyways), Iron Will, Increased Area of Effect, Concentrated Effect, Less Duration (Storm Call), Chain (Arc), Faster Projectiles (Spark) are better options than another copy of the same spell.

Dual wielding: While dual wielding, socketed lightning spells will not trigger when the other weapon is used unless it is another Mjölner. Generally, when using a skill that uses a single weapon, the skill will alternate which weapon it uses except in the case of Dual Strike.
