Note: the new hidden degen cannot be mitigated by any % life regen. But it can be mitigated by reduced damage taken over time modifiers (Arakaali's pantheon, Leo's craft); by Mind over Matter keystone (*1,3) and [[Kintsugi]] body armour (*1,25).

Darkness is a stacking debuff dealing increasingly high typeless damage over time. It occurs in the Azurite Mine when a character moves outside the lit areas of the mine. The debuff deals damage equal to 2% of the player's life and energy shield per second,[confirmation needed because of 3.5.0 change] gaining a stack every 0.25 seconds (maximum 5000 stacks). Stepping into a lit area clears the debuff.
