Attack speed
Attack speed is a modifier to base attacks per second.
Normal attacks and attack skills derive attack speed and damage from the weapon(s) equipped. This base speed can be increased by attack speed modifiers. In general, weapons with dexterity requirements (e.g., bows and daggers) have higher attack speed than weapons with strength requirements (e.g., staves and maces).
Attack speed does not increase the rate that spells can be cast. Instead, cast speed is used for that purpose.
Dual wielding provides an automatic 10% bonus to attack speed.
Frenzy charges increase attack speed by 5% per charge.
Passives
There are passive skill nodes that grant increased attack speed or a combination of bonuses including attack speed.
Attack Speed
These passives increase attack speed by a percentage.
Attack Speed while Dual Wielding
These passives increase attack speed by a percentage while dual wielding. The type of weapon does not matter as long as a weapon is held in each hand.
Attack Speed with One-Handed Melee Weapons
These passives increase attack speed by a percentage while using one-handed melee weapons.
Attack Speed with Two-Handed Melee Weapons
These passives increase attack speed by a percentage while using two-handed melee weapons.

These passives increase attack speed by a percentage while using swords.
Attack Speed with Axes
These passives increase attack speed by a percentage while using axes.
Attack Speed with Maces
These passives increase attack speed by a percentage while using maces.
Attack Speed with Daggers
These passives increase attack speed by a percentage while using daggers.
