An aura is a permanent effect focused on your character that also affects nearby party members and minions. Auras reserve a portion of your mana pool. Some skills reserve a straight amount while others reserve a percentage of your max. The 9 original auras were added in patch 0.9.7, and one additional (Clarity) was added in patch 0.9.8.

All allies within range of a player's aura skill will receive an aura buff. Passive and item mod bonuses can apply to the stats granted by auras, but these bonuses are determined by the passives and items of the receiver, not the player who is the source of the aura. For example, player A has passives for extra energy shield and is generating a Discipline aura. Player A will gain a bonus on the energy shield granted by the aura. But party member Player B who is standing inside the aura radius of Player A will only receive the base amount of energy shield granted by the aura unless Player B also has energy shield boosting passives.

Skills

There are currently 10 aura skills:

Support Gem Combinations

Auras themselves do not do damage. They provide a buff which can add extra damage. As with curses, added damage supports can't be linked with auras successfully. These support gems will affect auras:

Module Error: No skills found with q_where = skill.active_skill_name="Blood Magic (Support Gem)" - This will cause linked auras to reserve health instead of mana.

Module Error: No skills found with q_where = skill.active_skill_name="Increased Area of Effect" - Increases the radius of the aura.

Module Error: No skills found with q_where = skill.active_skill_name="Reduced Mana" - Reduces the mana or health reserved to maintain the aura. This works for both flat amount reservation and percent based reservation.

Module Error: No skills found with q_where = skill.active_skill_name="Spell Totem" - Casts a totem which will maintain an aura. The cost to cast the totem is the mana that would be reserved multiplied by the Mana Cost Multiplier of the Totem support and any other linked support gems.

Passives

There are passive skill nodes that grant bonuses to auras.

Note that "Reduced Mana Reservation" is multiplicative for both % and flat mana auras and the bonus is multiplicative with the Module Error: No skills found with q_where = skill.active_skill_name="Reduced Mana" Support Gem, the latter occuring first.

Theoretical Maximum Reduction

If you get all of the Reduced Mana Reservation passives and use a level 20 Module Error: No skills found with q_where = skill.active_skill_name="Reduced Mana".

4 x Reduced Mana Reservation -20% (of 40%) is 32%

Final Cost 22.72% (%43.2 reduction)

Running All 10 Auras

There are 10 Auras, 5 with static reserves and 5 with percentage reserves. Even with the maximum %43.2 reserve reduction for all auras, the percentage auras still take up %107.92 mana. So at least one will need a Module Error: No skills found with q_where = skill.active_skill_name="Blood Magic (Support Gem)". (lets assume all the gems are level 20)

The 5 static reserves take up 679.328 mana.

If we Blood Magic a 40% aura we reserve 85.2% of our mana: 679.328/(1-0.852) = 4591 Minimum Mana and -45.44% Life

If we Blood Magic a 30% aura (Hatred) we reserve 90.88% of our mana: 679.328/(1-0.9088) = 7449 Minimum Mana and -34.08% Life

If we Blood Magic one of the percentage auras, say Hatred, and all of the static auras we get: 679.328/(1-0.3408) = 1031 Minimum Life and -90.88% Mana

For above, the Minimum Life/Mana means if you have that value this will reduce it to ~0.

Now lets assume that all the auras are level 1.

The 5 static auras, without any mana reduction take up 360 mana, with %43.2 mana reduction, they take up 155.52.

There are 5 percentage reserved auras, 4 of which are 40% and 1 of which is 30%.

In theory, without any mana reduction, it would be impossible to run the 5 percentage based auras without blood magic.

Lets say that blood magic is not a viable option to reserve almost half your life!

lets say we blood magic all the static auras, we would reserve 155.52 life, with all the mana reduction gems and passives.

Now for the percentage based auras we will reduce the mana reserve for each by:43.2%

Now each 40% aura now only takes up 22.72 mana x4(because there are 4, %40 auras)this already takes up 90.88 of our mana.

The 30% aura with the 43.2% reduction will take uo 17.04%( 30-30x 0.432= 17.04)

If we add 17.04 with 90.88 it will add up to 107.92

Therefore, without running a percentage aura as a blood magic gem, it is impossible to run all 10 auras at the same time.
