5% reduced Mana reserved nodes?

How do these work?

Would one node reduce 40% reservations to 35%? Or does it reduce 40% by 5% of 40%, result being 38%. -AnnanFay (talk) 15:09, 4 February 2013 (UTC)

Just like is reads, it takes the amount reserved and reduces it by the percentage indicated. If an aura reserves 100 mana, a 5% Reduced Mana Reservation node would make that aura reserve 95 mana instead. So the direct answer to your question is the later; 38%. —Vinifera7 (talk) 15:17, 4 February 2013 (UTC)

Strange Wording

Note that "Reduced Mana Reservation" is multiplicative for both % and flat mana auras and the bonus is multiplicative with the Reduced Mana Support Gem, the latter occuring first.

This wording seems strange and unclear to me. What is actually indicated by the term "multiplicative" here? The way I understand it, the "Reduced Mana Reservation" bonuses are not applied multiplicatively. It is in fact a multiplier to mana reserved, but it is applied additively. The bonuses are added up, then applied as a whole. For example, if you have two 5% Reduced Mana Reservation passives and are using an aura that normally reserves 100 mana, the resulting amount is: 100 * (1 - .05 - .05) = 90. It is not 100 * (1 - .05) * (1 - .05) = 90.25. —Vinifera7 (talk) 15:25, 7 February 2013 (UTC)

I know what it means but I agree it could be worded better.

"Reduced Mana Reservation" is multiplicative for both % and flat mana auras

This means that the passives are multiplied with the reservation cost rather that multiplied.
* Additive: 40% + (-5%-5%) = 30%
* Multiplicative: 40% * (-5%-5%) = 36%
It's confusing because you first add together all the reduction nodes then multiple. Also it's weird talking of it being additive when they are subtracting. I think an example would be the best solution.

and the bonus is multiplicative with the Reduced Mana Support Gem, the latter occuring first.

This just means you go BaseCost * PassiveMod * SGMod rather than adding the passive reduction to the gem mod first. It doesn't matter which happens first though.

Running 10 Auras

This section seems like useless trivia, and it's rambling and poorly written. There's no practical purpose in running all the auras other than to run all the auras. Furthermore this section will be prone to becoming outdated as new aura gems are added. Danny (talk) 09:30, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

It was less rambling when I wrote it. Then someone doubled it's size! Hmm, I agree. I'll move it to the discussion section. -AnnanFay (talk) 13:15, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
Although, I would argue it's not useless. The reason I moved it is because of the TL:DR impression I got. -AnnanFay (talk) 13:24, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
There's definite value in having a section that talks about how to run multiple auras effectively, but I don't think the 10 aura section was worth much. Iamacyborg (talk) 14:40, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

Running All 10 Auras

There are 10 Auras, 5 with static reserves and 5 with percentage reserves. Even with the maximum %43.2 reserve reduction for all auras, the percentage auras still take up %107.92 mana. So at least one will need a Arrogance SupportArrogance SupportAura, Support
Icon: B
Level: (1-20)
Cost & Reservation Multiplier: (220-201)%
Requires Level 31Supports any non-blessing skill with a reservation.Supported Skills have (10-19)% increased Aura effect
Supported Skills Reserve Life instead of Mana

Additional Effects From 1-20% Quality:
Supported Skills have (0.25-5)% increased Aura effect
This is a Support Gem. It does not grant a bonus to your character, but to skills in sockets connected to it. Place into an item socket connected to a socket containing the Skill Gem you wish to augment. Right click to remove from a socket.
. (lets assume all the gems are level 20)

The 5 static reserves take up 679.328 mana.

If we Blood Magic a 40% aura we reserve 85.2% of our mana: 679.328/(1-0.852) = 4591 Minimum Mana and -45.44% Life

If we Blood Magic a 30% aura (Hatred) we reserve 90.88% of our mana: 679.328/(1-0.9088) = 7449 Minimum Mana and -34.08% Life

If we Blood Magic one of the percentage auras, say Hatred, and all of the static auras we get: 679.328/(1-0.3408) = 1031 Minimum Life and -90.88% Mana

For above, the Minimum Life/Mana means if you have that value this will reduce it to ~0. -AnnanFay (talk) 10:32, 10 February 2013‎ (UTC)

Now lets assume that all the auras are level 1.

The 5 static auras, without any mana reduction take up 360 mana, with %43.2 mana reduction, they take up 155.52.

There are 5 percentage reserved auras, 4 of which are 40% and 1 of which is 30%.

In theory, without any mana reduction, it would be impossible to run the 5 percentage based auras without blood magic.

Lets say that blood magic is not a viable option to reserve almost half your life!

lets say we blood magic all the static auras, we would reserve 155.52 life, with all the mana reduction gems and passives.

Now for the percentage based auras we will reduce the mana reserve for each by:43.2%

Now each 40% aura now only takes up 22.72 mana x4(because there are 4, %40 auras)this already takes up 90.88 of our mana.

The 30% aura with the 43.2% reduction will take uo 17.04%( 30-30x 0.432= 17.04)

If we add 17.04 with 90.88 it will add up to 107.92

Therefore, without running a percentage aura as a blood magic gem, it is impossible to run all 10 auras at the same time. - TheKingsley 06:21, 19 February 2013‎ (UTC)

Monster Aura Info?

People may come to this page looking for information about Monster only Auras. Either to find out which ones are possible or how dangerous/useful they are for skills like Dominating Blow and Conversion Trap.

Should this be included in this page, is there already another page with this info or should another page be made? I feel it would clutter up this page.

For example, the aura "Allies have Energy Shield" increased my ES from 279 to 1362 on a level 33 zone. But I don't know what this is based on. -AnnanFay (talk) 22:40, 27 February 2013 (UTC)

Theoretical aura calculation incorrect?

It says 54% which doesn't seem to even add up in the first place. All the passives listed + Alpha Howl = 16+15+5+5+8 howl = 49 which is .51 reduction multiplier

Aura calculation = aura% * gem * passives/items

Grace 60% * .71 gem = 42.6 (round down according to mark http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/567561/page/3) 42 * .51 passives = 21.42 (then round up) = 22% reserved

How does he get "19.60%" on the wiki? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Serulin (talkcontribs) 23:32, 10 January 2014‎

It might simply be out of date. —Vini (t|c) 00:23, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
I double checked and the math seems correct to me. You have:
That's a total of 54% reduced.
The Grace example is calculated with:
60 (original reservation) * 0.46 (reduction from passives and items above) * 0.71 (mana gem) = 19.6%. The rounding is just ignored.

Ah okay i see whats going on now, he just included the 5% reserve down in the marauder tree in his calculation but not his description.

Over 100% reduced?

As of now there are these passives reducing reserve cost:

  • 1x 8% reduced Mana Reserved:
Sovereignty in the top left
  • 2x 4% reduced Mana Reserved:
Both in the Sovereignty cluster in the top left
  • 4x 5% reduced Mana Reserved:
In the bottom left, in a cluster with Aura Effect and Aura Area of Effect
In the Charisma cluster between the Ranger and Shadow starting areas
In the Leadership cluster in the upper right section of the Scion area
In the Influence cluster above the Shadow area
  • 1x 10% reduced Mana Reserved:
Charisma between the Ranger and Shadow starting areas
  • 1x 40% less Mana Reserved:
In the bottom left, behind Blood Magic

This all adds up to 8 + 8 + 20 + 10 = 46%

Multiplier is then equal to 0.54 * 0.60 = 0.324 Add Alpha's HowlAlpha's Howl

and Reduced Mana

Just want to point out that my quick calculations of it became over 100% due to me not seeing the word "less" on the 40% node.

Is this how the keyword less works or does it go after the reduced ones have been applied to the base sum?

It goes after the sum. The steps are:
  • Take all "reduced Mana Reserved" bonuses from passive nodes, gear and gems
  • Add them up all together
  • Subtract the result from 1 to get a "reduction factor" (if the sum was 46%, reduction factor is 0.54)
  • For each "less Mana Reserved" bonus, calculate a "less factor" by subtracting the value from 1. For example "40% less Mana Reserved" yields a "less factor" of 0.60
  • Multiply the "reduction factor" by all "less factors". You get the final multiplier. Chriskang (talk) 01:48, 12 March 2014 (UTC)

Why isn't Anger in the table "Aura skill gems"?

Is there a special reason why the Anger aura is missing in the section "Aura skill gems"? --Blackarchon (talk) 13:09, 14 July 2019 (UTC)

For some reason it required a Null edit first on Anger and then on the Aura page. Now it's fixed. Blue1231231 (talk) 14:20, 14 July 2019 (UTC)

Thank you, this looks fine now! --Blackarchon (talk) 14:37, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
