I am a bit confused, is the fossil now just add split modifier to the copy instead of mirrored, or both mirrored and split modifiers? Neokowloon (talk) 21:56, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

It no longer adds the mirrored modifier to the copy. Instead, it adds the split modifier to both the copy and the original. —Vini (t|c) 23:32, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
Have a quick try in-game, i am surprised that it now made two rare with identical mods, plus the split modifier, by using a fossil to upgrade a normal item to rare. I guess the article may need full rewrite and read reddit and other guide on the new function and the "niche" of the fossil. Neokowloon (talk) 17:25, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, the article needs to be rewritten. I tested it out myself and I got the same result as you: Two identical newly-rolled rare items, both with the split modifier. I can also confirm that fractured Fossils cannot be used on the following: Enchanted items (this includes all cluster jewels), synthesized items, fractured items, influenced items, and of course corrupted items. Fractured Fossils can be used on items with catalyst quality. This wasn't mentioned in the patch notes, but I tried it anyway since the chat log shows the message "Failed to apply item: Cannot split an Item with an Enchant or Catalyst Quality" when you try to use a Fractured Fossil on an enchanted item. —Vini (t|c) 04:35, 30 April 2021 (UTC)
  • Also, since people deleted the statement regarding the interaction between Split and imprint. I guess either the manifesto wording is not clear or changed after manifesto .

Either:

  • "Split-ed" item cannot have imprint used on it, restoring the mod before split and delete the split tag; new imprint can be created.
  • "Split-ed" item can have imprint used on it, restoring the mod before split but cannot delete the split tag; new imprint can be created.
  • "Split-ed" item cannot have pre-split imprint used on it (thus not able to delete split tag), new imprint cannot be created.

Well, time to break my in-game pocket .... Neokowloon (talk) 18:24, 13 May 2022 (UTC)

I did all the tests for you and edited the article. Sources on discord (look in history) and in References section. Green7777777 (talk) 00:48, 11 August 2022 (CEST)

To re-verify; this split tag does not prevent new imprints from being made, but cannot restore to a non-split state. Talk:Imprint - Blvcksvn (talk) 12:06, 6 December 2023 (UTC)
