Mechanics

• Unique Relics can only be used in Forbidden Sanctum areas of level 80+.
• Unique Relics are destroyed upon completing or failing a run.
• This item comes with three variants, which grant Experience, Relics, or Unique Items upon defeating the Herald of the Scourge.
  • The modifier has a cap of approximately 10,000 Aureus, equal to approximately 20 additional relics or uniques (1 per 500 Aureus) or 300,000,000 experience (30,000 raw exp per Aureus) before level penalties (approximately 750 exp per Aureus at Character Level 99 in a level 83 zone).
  • Aureus Coins are converted to Relic upon defeating the Herald of the Scourge can drop both Templar relics and Sanctified Relics. The drop in addition to the default guaranteed Unique relic and Sanctified relic that always drop after killing Lycia's second form.

Strategies

• Avoid using the Merchant or Benevolent Fountains unless absolutely necessary. These rewards are not mandatory to be collected and can be skipped and the player can immediately enter the next room.
• Prioritize Accursed Pacts, Merchant, and Major Treasure Chest rooms whenever possible. It is generally recommended to kill as many Guards and open as many chests as possible.
• Boons: prioritize the Major Boons "Gold Coin" and Minor Boons "Gold Trophy", "Gold Magnet" as soon as possible. Avoid purchasing anything from the Merchant after obtaining Gold Trophy.
  • Some combinations of Boons (e.g. Bronze Coin and Silver Coin) can allow infinite net-positive generation of Resolve/Aureus; however, this requires multiple Major Boons and is not a reliable strategy.
• Afflictions: Avoid the following Afflictions at all costs: "Cutpurse", "Charred Coin", "Door Tax", "Empty Trove", "Floor Tax".
• Relics: Use Relics with additional Merchant choices or additional revealed Rooms.
• Doubling Pact is recommended to duplicate all Guards to maximize Aureus drops if the player can handle multiple at once without being overwhelmed.

Item acquisition

The First Crest has restrictions on where or how it can drop. It cannot be chanced. Has a chance to drop from Lycia, Herald of the Scourge in a Sanctum of area level 71+.
