+4 to Maximum Fanatic Charges
Gain 1 Fanatic Charge every second if you've Attacked in the past second
Gain Fanaticism for 4 seconds on reaching Maximum Fanatic Charges
Lose all Fanatic Charges on reaching Maximum Fanatic Charges [1]

Instruments of Zeal is a notable Ascendancy passive skill for the Inquisitor. It causes your attack skills to generate Fanatic charges gradually when used. At maximum Fanatic charges, all charges are removed to grant the Fanaticism buff, which grants your spells greatly increased cast speed, area of effect, and cost reduction.

Mechanics

  • +4 to Maximum Fanatic Charges
    • Increases this charge default cap of 0 to 4.
  • Gain 1 Fanatic Charge every second if you've Attacked in the past second
    • Grants you one charge of Fanatic Charge when attacking. This has a delay of one second.
    • It does not require an attack to hit an enemy.
  • Gain Fanaticism for 4 seconds on reaching Maximum Fanatic Charges
    • Grants Fanaticism at maximum Fanatic Charges, granting a powerful buff to spells during 4 seconds:
      • 75% more Cast Speed
      • 75% Reduced Cost
      • 75% increased Area of Effect
    • Does not disable the generation of Fanatic Charges. Attacking continuously will keep generating charges even with Fanaticism still affecting your character.
  • Lose all Fanatic Charges on reaching Maximum Fanatic Charges
    • Reaching maximum Fanatic Charges (and therefore, gaining Fanaticism) makes you lose all charges.

Fanaticism is not affected by x% increased Skill Effect Duration because it is not a skill.

Preliminary testing proves that it have no effect with Rage cost, from Chainbreaker keystone.
