You can't be damaged

Grace Period is a buff that grants prevents characters and their minions from taking damage. Performing any action (using a skill, moving) will remove this buff. This buff cannot be acquired through modifiers, gems or passive skills - it is only granted to the player and their minions upon entering a new area. It is impossible for monsters to acquire this buff.

Mechanics

While in the Grace Period, a character and their minions cannot take damage of any form.

Strategy

There are various strategies employed by players in relation to the Grace Period.

  • Attempting to "skip" a difficult boss skill: Bosses like The Searing Exarch may have difficult skills like the Rolling Meteors skill which lasts for a certain duration. If a player find that they have died to this skill, when they reenter the arena, it may be advantageous to perform no actions and use up their Grace Period until the skill's effects end - effectively waiting the skill out.
  • Avoiding otherwise unavoidable or exceptionally difficult to avoid damage: Some bosses may have skills that are more difficult to dodge for players that have recently entered the arena. A prime example is the Bullet Hell skill used by The Shaper - it may be far more difficult to reach Zana's "bubble" from the location of your portal, especially if projectiles are in the way. In this situation, it may again be advisable to perform no actions and "wait out" the skill's duration. An example of completely unavoidable damage is that of The Maven's skill on failing her Memory Game skill. If you have failed the Memory Game, logout or die, and reenter the arena, it is almost always advisable to stay in the Grace Period if you can see that her failed Memory Game skill is being used, as the damage is unavoidable.
