The Lantern of Arimor is a league mechanic found in the Necropolis league. Before entering a zone, the Lantern reveals monster packs that will be present in the zone, as well as Haunted modifiers attached to them. Players can swap the mods to affect different monsters.
Mechanics
Players receive the Lantern when they meet Undertaker Arimor for the first time at The Coast (Act 1). Once received, the Lantern will automatically be applied to all future zones. The Lantern will not be applied to unique maps, Kirac missions, and Atlas Memories.
Before you enter a zone, the Lantern of Arimor will display a list of monsters that will appear in that zone, as well as a Haunted modifier attached to them. Haunted modifiers empower the monster type it's attached to. The player may rearrange these modifiers to affect another type of monster. Sometimes, a Haunted modifier will be replaced with a Devoted modifier, which have purely beneficial effects. In maps, monster packs may also have a pack size modifier and a modifier that alters the tier of the attached mod. Increases and decreases to Haunted modifier effect does not affect Devoted modifier effect.
In Acts, you can enter a zone without looking at the Lantern of Arimor and it will use the default configuration of mods (sorted by Devoted and Haunted mods, then by tier). The mods and monsters on the Lantern will also refresh every few minutes. When opening a map, the monster pack and modifier options are locked in once revealed and any maps or fragments used will be locked in the map device until the map is opened.
Haunted modifiers come in different tiers. Killing monsters with higher tiers and modifier effects of Haunted modifiers increases the chances of future zones having a Devoted modifier, and increases the chance of Haunted monsters dropping an Ember of the Allflame and for Haunted monsters to spawn with the Unresolved Anguish modifier. After killing a monster with Unresolved Anguish, its corpse can be collected by Undertaker Arimor to have it sent to the Necropolis or have the corpse itemized in a Filled CoffinFilled CoffinMonster: <monster type>
