Analysis

(I assume analysis is subjective and thus not appropriate on the main page, however I wanted to write this somewhere and here seemed good)

Dialogue Analysis:

"The Lords have unknowing followers among your kind." - on Breach

very interesting, but im not aware of any other mention of this idea.

"The Clayshaper once took refuge here... for a time." - on abyss

very rare clayshaper lore. actual connection or just name-dropping for the sake of it?

"Often, it is our own creations that destroy us in the end." - on abyss

is this a reference to the clayshaper's golems turning on her? i dont think clayshaper ever met an unfortunate demise, did she? i thought the lightless were "destoyed" as in lost, but i dont see what they were creating. maybe they were the created?

"You are feeding it exactly what it desires..." - on legion what is "it"? a malevolent force keeping the legionaires fighting? is something leeching off of their energies?

"I was here before gods, before religion. Trapped. Watching. Curious." - on shrines despite the obvious connection between shrines and gods, shrines have never really shown up in shrine lore. could this be a lead on shrines having more importance than we think? dont forget about the easter egg darkshrine effects.

"The torturer should pray his search for truth never bears fruit..." - on metamorph i dunno, kinda reminds me of zerphi, although i might be reading too far into it. also yugul. man, there are a lot of characters who hurt others for their own intellectual gain. zerphi, yugul, tane, doryani, doryani, atziri, just to name a few. hmmm. probably maligaro too.

"You would never touch another essence if you knew..." - essence honestly feels like a red herring, a throwaway line to make us go hmmmm but its nothing interesting. essences are so removed from lore.

They come from beyond the sight of the Lake. They are a mystery even to me. - on expedition. very very interesting. is the lake only over wraeclast? why? the lake predates everything. could the lake be the catalyst for the weird stuff on wraeclast, or could the catalyst (whatever is so special about wraeclast, if there is any that makes it this way) have also caused the lake, being an even deeper root cause?

She wanders still, forever fleeing, forever burdened by guilt. - scourge this is referencing the last to die, right

Qotra meddles with forces she does not understand, and can never master. Fools seek to make the power of this Lake their own. They will crack the world.

there seems to be unresolved lore with the higher heist ring, especially with replicas. theres a lot of potential. real intersting for kalandra to bring up the head researcher, and not even talk about, ynow, the heisting, but instead the people and their ambitions.

A vision of long ago... There was a time when all of Wraeclast was pure and untainted. was there some "tainting" moment, like eve eating the apple, that tainted all of wraeclast at one moment> Bloonpauper (talk) 08:11, 27 June 2023 (UTC)

kalandra challenge league vs kalandra league

"(name) Challenge League" refers to content exclusive to the League itself - i.e. not available in standard and removed if not gone core. Kalandra was exclusive to the league itself and did not go core, so it is more accurate to say that she was a part of the challenge league than to say that she was a part of the whole league, which contains stuff like balance changes & new uniques, which were available in standard and did go core. furthermore, "kalandra league" refers to the expansion as a whole and is thus synonymous with the expansion. it makes no sense to say "expansion, Lake of Kalandra and the accompanying Kalandra league." if they are one and the same. Bloonpauper (talk) 02:49, 9 July 2023 (UTC)

That's just not correct. The challenge league is called Kalandra league. The expansion is called Lake of Kalandra. —Vini (t|c) 03:26, 9 July 2023 (UTC)
1. "Our August expansion contains the Kalandra challenge league, improvements to the Atlas endgame, four new gems, 14 new unique items, 100+ buffed existing uniques, revamps to Harvest, Beyond and Archnemesis, a variety of balance changes and much more!". -https://www.pathofexile.com/kalandra. As stated, the expansion contains the "Kalandra challenge league". 2. "In the Kalandra Challenge League, you'll travel to the mirrored lake that granted Kalandra her powers of duplication." - further down. The things described in the "Kalandra Challenge League" (note capitalization) are league-exclusive mechanics and are not part of the greater expansion, otherwise they would have gone core. 3. when talking about the gems and unique items, they refer to it as coming from the "expansion", and not the challenge league. 3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWChrPIFiME big title "Kalandra Challenge League", chris says "Kalandra challenge league". for the next 6 minutes, he talks exclusively about the league things. 4. "Kirac's Vault returns for the Kalandra League with a brand new set of exclusive unique item skins. Purchasing access to Kirac's Vault allows you to claim these exclusive rewards as you complete map objectives in the Kalandra League." The only time "Kalandra League" is used is when talking about Kirac's Vault, which is kinda of an accessory to the actual league. i guess "Kalandra league" can refer to the challenge league, as kirac's vault could only be completed in-league, but i think it is clear from my examples that saying "Kalandra Challenge League" is by far the most popular phrase when referring to league-exclusive content, especially the mechanic itself, where it is the only term ever used. Even more so, https://www.pathofexile.com/crucible, the most recent league, has zero (0) uses of "Crucible League", three uses of "Crucible Challenge League", and 7 uses of "Path of Exile: Crucible". if we really want to be nitpicky, the update itself is known as "Path of Exile: (Name)" and the challenge league is known as the "(Name) Challenge League). even if not incorrect, "(name) league" is simply less accurate. Bloonpauper (talk) 08:13, 9 July 2023 (UTC)
"Kalandra league" and "Kalandra challenge league" both refer to same thing: the challenge league. —Vini (t|c) 13:11, 9 July 2023 (UTC)
okay they may refer to the same thing however one of the two terms is certainly more consistently used and more accurate than the other. i see zero reasons why "kalandra league" is better and two that "kaladra challenge league" is better. 1. used more by ggg. if we look at crucible, we find 8 seperate instances of "crucible challenge league" and zero (0) instances of "crucible league" on both the website and patch notes. technically, there is no direct evidence that such thing as "crucible league" even exists. perhaps there is a league that may be called crucible, but is just a shortening of the longer, more official name. 2. more specific. specificity is next to godliness. "kalandra league" often refers to the expansion as a whole, while adding "challenge" makes it clear that only the challenge league is being referred to. this is why "kalandra league" is far more common when people talk about the update: they never want to specify the challenge league, as they want to include everything that came in the update. consider something else. if i were to say "in kalandra league, they buffed 100+ uniques". you probably wouldn't challenge that. however, this, according to your definition, would be technically innacurate, as the unique buffs were a part of the expansion as a whole, and not the challenge league. anyways, conclusion is that kalandra league is not wrong per se, however it is not the best way to say it and i see an easy improvement. if it were up to me, i'd probably rephrase the whole thing as "She is an NPC and the subject of the eponymous Version 3.19.0 expansion Path of Exile: Lake of Kalandra, and the accompanying Kalandra Challenge League. finally, im not entirely sure why you had to revert my change if the terms were equivalent.Bloonpauper (talk) 03:00, 10 July 2023 (UTC)
"Kalandra Challenge League" and "Kalandra League" are equivalent in what they are referring to, but you should use the less verbose term, as being concise is part of the wiki standard. Kalandra League is used in official posts, so you're picking and choosing examples. Also, to clarify: the Unique buffs were part of the expansion. Currently, the Challenge League specifically entails content exclusive to the challenge league itself. The Unique buffs are considered a global update, which is why it is attributed to the expansion, not the league, when both are released simultaneously without distinction. Updates to the endgame and passive changes are also considered expansion updates, not league content. Blvcksvn (talk) 18:38, 12 July 2023 (UTC)
