Not to be confused with Corruption.
For a full list of corruption effects, see Vaal Orb.
A corrupted item

Corrupted is a special modifier introduced in the Sacrifice of the Vaal mini-expansion. Items, strongboxes and areas with this modifier cannot be altered further with crafting orbs or restored to an Module Error: No results found for item using search term "item_name = Eternal Orb" imprint.[1] The sockets and links of a corrupted item can still be changed by a level 8 Vorici.

The corrupted modifier may be found in the following circumstances:

  • Items the player uses a Module Error: No results found for item using search term "item_name = Vaal Orb" on will be corrupted and may be otherwise changed in the process.
  • Items contained within a corrupted strongbox may become corrupted.
  • Vaal skill gems are always corrupted, whether found in a Vaal Vessel, a Gemcutter's strongbox or crafted using a Vaal Orb.
  • Corrupted areas are always corrupted.
  • Some items granted by sets of divination cards may be corrupted.
  • All talismans are inherently corrupted.
  • The Module Error: No results found for item using search term "item_name = Star of Wraeclast" is inherently corrupted.
