Pathofexile.com/trade is the official shop indexer of Path of Exile that sorts items in a easy-to-find manner. The content of this guide largely refers to listing your items using the Path of Exile trade forums, as the process is significantly more complex than the use of a Premium Stash Tab.

Summary of pathofexile.com/trade mechanics

Pathofexile.com/trade gets its information through the Public stash tab API, as well as from the forums (particularly the trading subforums). The forums have a system to link items from your game stash to your posts, which helps verify if the item is still available, in the same way the stash tab indexer does. The items can then be priced by appending the correct syntax after the code that links the item.

A few times every minute, pathofexile.com/trade look at any posts on the forum, and updates the index with any listed items. The indexer has a limit to how many threads it searches, which is why it is good practice to regularly 'bump" the thread, or post a comment to have it appear higher in the subforum.

Creating a forum thread

1. Log in to www.pathofexile.com.
2. Browse to the forum trading section. A couple of alternatives will be available depending on which league you are playing in and if you're buying or selling a few items or want to create a large shop full of items. For example, if you are playing in the Standard League and want to create a shop:
3. Go to the Standard League - Shops subforum.
4. Create a thread. The title of the post does not matter.
5. In the original post; link the items you want to sell. On the top left part of pathofexile.com, you should see your account and one of your characters should be displayed. If you click on the picture of your character, you'll see your inventory, and you'll have access to your stash.
6. Click only one time on the item you want to sell. A code, looking like this one, will be copied to the text of your forum post: [linkItem location="Stash2" league="Standard" x="5" y="0"]. If you preview your post, you'll see the item picture and a proper link in your post.
7. After the code, you can tell the indexer what price you want to sell the item for. 8. Once finished, submit the thread and wait for the indexer to add it. This can sometimes take a while.

This procedure has been automated by various inventory management tools.

Appearing online

In order for your items to be listed for sale, you'll need to be seen as Online in game by the indexer. While premium stash tabs automate this process (since your account has to be logged in in order for them to be indexed), while using the forum to list items, some workarounds are necessary. Here are a few options:

1. Buying at least one Premium Stash Tab and setting it as public. In this case you don't have to do anything and your online status will be determined automatically.
2. Some third party applications such as Auto Online and Acquisition enable you flag yourself as online for the trade indexer.
