Cast speed is a modifier that affects the speed of casting spells.

Cast speed can be found throughout the game, on passive skills, equipment, skill gems, monster affixes, map affixes, and so on.

The base cast time is derived from the spell being used, it is the length of time required to cast a spell. Cast speed is a derived stat which is equal to 1 divided by Cast Time. Therefore if the cast speed is increased, the cast time is reduced. For example, if a player is using a skill with a base cast time of 0.8 seconds, and the player has a total of 50% increased Cast Speed, the result will be:

           1 / 0.8 = 1.25 casts per second (base)
1.25 * ( 1 + 0.5 ) = 1.88 casts per second (modified)
          1 / 1.88 = Modified cast time of 0.53 seconds

Frenzy charges increase cast speed by 5% per charge.

Passives

There are passive skill nodes that grant increased cast speed or a combination of bonuses including cast speed.
