Eldritch Decay is detrimental ground effect that deals physical damage over time.

Sources

The effect is caused by killing the Madness Propagators, or the tentacle whip skill of the Elder.

In the Elder-influenced map, Madness Propagators drop temporarily eldritch decay. However, when they lives long enough in Elder's arena (the Absence of Value and Meaning), Madness Propagators drop permanent eldritch decay. Player need to kill the Madness Propagators fast enough to prevent the arena full of unwalkable ground effects.

Trivia

The status icon of Eldritch Decay is called "ElderGroundEffects.dds" in the game file.
