Madness Propagators spawning eldritch decay

Hey, @Neokowloon i know you are not on good terms with me for whatever reason. I hold no grudge towards you so lets talk about the mechanic. As far as i know, and i havent seen any evidence of this not being the case so far, Madness Propagators dont drop Eldritch Decay on death under any circumstances. So can you please agree with me that this is the case? Also the Elder Tentacle attack doesnt spread Eldritch Decay either. The temporary ground left behind is purely visual and deals no damage. Can we please just get along? Iam not interested in fighting you and i only want to improve the PoE-Wiki with the knowledge that i have. --Divinityy (talk) 21:19, 1 March 2020 (UTC)

Madness Propagator in Elder arena. It lived long enough, self exploded (need to dig out video from shelf) or killed by player (need to meet condition one "live long enough"), so it still an "on death effect". The bug that fixed in 3.2.2c, is exactly this, Madness Propagator keep spawning and then keep explode to create ground effect (some people like to keep their corpse and watching the arena without re-spawn), this behaviour is ez to get video proof.
As I said, Elder Tentacle part is forked from The Elder, which if you can get prove, feel free to remove the misinformation from The Elder article and from this. Apparently Engineering Eternity's video shown it is visual only, but Red Elder frag is not that expensive to buy and record a new video.
What i concerned is POE wiki is full of not cited content which sometimes dubious , for example new Atlas mechanics , quite a lot of content in the wiki look like speculation grade. Neokowloon (talk) 21:44, 1 March 2020 (UTC)
Yes i totally understand this. but when they spread the ground (you said self exploded or killed by a player) they dont die. so its no on death effect. i dont know the exact time it takes for them to drop the ground, but it defenitely isnt on death. I dont know how i can prove this to you because there just isnt any evidence of madness propagators dying and leaving the degen behind because of said death.
I cant really record videos right now, but i bought a normal (now red tier elder?) set. I took some screenshots of my char standing on the ground and no debuff icon is visible. i will upload a picture shortly. --Divinityy (talk) 21:50, 1 March 2020 (UTC)
This video is from incursion league and doing the challenge "Defeat Elder after allowing Eldritch Decay to drop 5 times". However, i need time to view it frame by frame. Neokowloon (talk) 21:53, 1 March 2020 (UTC)
Here is the Picture:
I have a lot of similar ones. There is no Debuff-Icon from Eldritch Decay visible. Regarding your video: it doesnt seem like the Madness Propagators drop the ground on death. --Divinityy (talk) 22:07, 1 March 2020 (UTC)
Ok, it seem in Elder-influenced map the Eldritch Decay is an on kill effect. After watching the video, while in Elder arena, Madness Propagator drop the ground effect just when they live long enough. There is a visual on kill effect , but it did not deal damage and temporary. The behaviours seem opposite in nature in map and in arena (or may be i need to keep a Madness Propagator live long enough to see, but in normal map it is very similar to Tarred ground behaviour ). Neokowloon (talk) 23:05, 1 March 2020 (UTC)
In the video that you posted the Madness Propagator already dropped the ground before you killed him. So its no on-death effect either. --Divinityy (talk) 23:10, 1 March 2020 (UTC)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────Ok, it seem so after standing still to look carefully in normal Elder- influenced map . The death animation look like applying the ground effect, but in fact just dive in the Eldritch decay plus apply more visual ground effect. Neokowloon (talk) 00:18, 2 March 2020 (UTC)

In the video by Engineering Eternity, you can clearly see a Propagator laying down eldritch decay before it is killed. —Vini (t|c) 00:35, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
Ok, we seem have a common ground that the ground effect is applied when they alive. The difference in normal Elder-influenced map and in Elder arena, is temporary (which the Propagator can reapply the effect. I intentionally standing near two Propagators and watch them reapply the effect again and again). While in Elder arena , the ground effect seem permanent.
Not sure worth to add to the content is the death animation . The animation seem adding some mark on the ground that have lighter color than Eldritch decay, and doing nothing other than visual effect.
The tentacle also add visual ground effect that have the same color as Eldritch decay, but does not deal DOT nor having a status icon. Thus the line in The Elder#Normal Phase "Tentacle Whip: Spawns several tentacles that slam the ground to deal area of effect physical damage. This attack also leaves eldritch decay for a short time." need to change by deleting the mention of eldritch decay. Neokowloon (talk) 01:03, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
So to conclude everything:
1. Eldritch Decay in the elder arena (Absence of Value and Meaning) is permanent and only gets spawned beneath the Madness Propagator in certain intervals while it is alive.
2. Eldritch Decay in elder-influenced maps is temporary and only gets spawned beneath the Madness Propagator in certain intervals while it is alive.
3. The ground effect coming from the Elder Tentacle Attack is purely visual and no actual Eldritch Decay, even though it looks very similar. --Divinityy (talk) 15:12, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
